- Roof, siding and gutters in one call
- Ocean and Monmouth counties

Our office is at 1258 Indian Hill Rd in Toms River, NJ and repairs and replaces roofs, siding, gutters, trim, skylights and windows across Ocean County and southern Monmouth County. The phone, (732) 419-1462, is answered 24 hours a day. For an active leak we tarp first and repair once the weather allows.
Shingle, membrane, skylight and siding lines we install and repair, including GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, James Hardie and Mastic.
Where your house sits matters
Four shore exposures, four ways we build a roof
A roof on Ortley Beach and a roof in West Dover face different weather even though they share a ZIP prefix. Pick the setting closest to yours to see what we watch for and what we tend to install there.
Not sure which one fits? Call (732) 419-1462 with your street name. We know which side of the bay the wind hits it from.

Barrier island
- What the house takes
- Open ocean wind from two directions, blowing sand and salt that settles on every fastener and flashing.
- What we put on it
- Shingle lines rated for high wind with extra nails at the edges, sealed ridge and starter courses, aluminum or coated drip edge, and stainless or hot-dipped fasteners on trim.
- Siding notes
- Fully fastened vinyl or fiber cement with taped house wrap, so a gust cannot get behind a panel and peel the wall.
- Most common call
- Ridge cap and rake shingles torn loose, and flashing that has rusted through years ahead of the roof.
Local pages: Ortley Beach, Seaside Heights, Lavallette, Normandy Beach.

Bayfront and lagoons
- What the house takes
- Wind that builds across miles of Barnegat Bay, damp air off the water and, on low streets, a history of flooding.
- What we put on it
- Ice and water barrier along eaves, rakes and valleys, balanced ridge and soffit venting for humid attics, and stronger seals on the windward slope.
- Siding notes
- Walls that once stood in water get opened and checked before we re-side, and north walls get products that resist mildew.
- Most common call
- Shingles lifted and creased on the bay side, and leaks at walls and chimneys during sideways rain.
Local pages: Silverton, Shelter Cove, Bay Shore, Island Heights.

Inland Toms River and suburbs
- What the house takes
- Heavy leaf and needle fall from mature oaks and pines, plus summer heat on south slopes.
- What we put on it
- Full tear-offs on homes that already carry two layers, new deck where it has softened, and architectural shingles with algae-resistant granules.
- Siding notes
- Older aluminum and first-generation vinyl on ranches and split-levels, often ready for a full re-side with new trim capping.
- Most common call
- Worn three-tab roofs from the 1990s and gutters packed solid each November.
Local pages: West Dover, Pleasant Plains, Brick, Jackson.

Pinelands edge
- What the house takes
- Pine needles that pile in valleys and gutters, sandy soil, and long, low single-story roofs.
- What we put on it
- Micro-mesh gutter guards, clean open valleys, and low-slope membranes on porches and additions where shingles do not belong.
- Siding notes
- Many homes sit in 55+ communities with set colors and profiles, so we work from the association rules before ordering.
- Most common call
- Valleys holding wet needles until the shingles rot through, and roofs that need replacing on a schedule an association approves.
Local pages: Manchester, Lakehurst, Berkeley Township, Barnegat.

Worth a call
Six signs your roof or siding needs attention soon
None of these mean the house is in trouble tonight. All of them mean water has a path it should not have, and paths only get wider in the next storm.

A stain that grows after rain
Brown rings on a ceiling or a damp patch high on a wall mean water has been finding a way in for a while. The source is often uphill of the stain.
Shingles in the yard
After a nor’easter, pieces of shingle, ridge cap or drip edge on the lawn are the clearest sign the roof needs a close look before the next storm.
Granules in the gutters
Sandy grit in gutters and at downspouts is the shingle surface wearing away. A little is normal on a new roof; a lot means the shingles are near the end.
Siding that rattles or bows
Panels that click in the wind, bulge between studs or show a gap at the bottom lock have come loose or have water behind them.
Daylight in the attic
If you can see light around a vent pipe, chimney or along the ridge from the attic, rain and wind can get through the same opening.
Gutters that spill at the corners
Overflow in a downpour soaks fascia, rots soffit and dumps water at the foundation. It is often a pitch or downspout problem, not just leaves.
How a job runs
From the first ring to the magnet sweep
The same six entries go into every job, whether it is one flashing repair or a full tear-off and re-side.

- Any hour
You call, a person answers
Day or night, we ask what you are seeing, where, and whether water is coming in now. If it is, we talk you through protecting the room while we get moving.
- Usually under an hour
We look before we talk price
On the roof and in the attic, we find the cause, photograph it and show you the pictures. You see what we see.
- Same or next day
A written scope in plain English
You get the work, the materials by name, what happens if we find soft decking, and a price for each part, so nothing is a surprise on the day.
- Varies by town
Permits and paperwork
When the job needs a township permit or association approval, we prepare and file it and tell you when it clears.
- 1 to 3 days for most roofs
The work itself
Tarps and protection go down first. We tear off, repair the deck, flash and install, and keep the site tidy as we go, with a magnet sweep for nails at the end.
- Last hour on site
The final walk
We walk the house with you, hand over photos of what is under the new roof, and leave our number for anything you notice later.

Materials we install
What the houses around the bay are wearing
Most roofs here are asphalt shingle, and most walls are vinyl, but shore houses ask for more variety than that. These are the materials we install and repair most often after shingles and vinyl.

How we work
What homeowners notice when we are on the job
Dover Roofing & Siding works the way we would want someone to work on our own houses: say what the problem is, fix that, and leave the yard cleaner than we found it. You will see GAF, Owens Corning and CertainTeed shingles on our roofs and James Hardie or Mastic siding on our walls, picked for the house rather than out of habit.
We start at the cause
A stain gets traced to its source before anything is sold. Photos from the roof come with every visit, so you can see the problem for yourself.
Roof and walls as one job
Drip edge, gutters, fascia and siding meet in one line. Doing them in the right order is how water stays outside.
Built for shore weather
Nail patterns, flashing metals and fasteners are chosen for wind and salt, not just for how the house looks on day one.
A phone that gets answered
Storms do not keep business hours. Neither does our phone line, which a person answers every hour of every day.
Questions we hear every week
Does someone really answer the Dover Roofing phone at 3 a.m.?
Yes. The line at (732) 419-1462 is answered around the clock, every day of the year. If water is coming in, we will talk you through moving belongings and catching drips, then get a roofer out to tarp or patch it as soon as conditions on the roof are safe.
Will one company handle both a new roof and new siding on my house?
Yes, and it usually goes better that way. The roof edge, drip edge, gutters, fascia and the top course of siding all meet at the same line, so one crew sequencing the job keeps water details lapped correctly instead of patched between two contractors.
Do you work on raised homes and houses on the barrier island?
We do. Elevated homes in Ortley Beach and the bay sections need taller staging and more care with materials and fasteners near salt air. We plan access, protect decks and stairs, and choose products that hold up to the wind on the island.
How far from Toms River do you travel for roofing and siding work?
Most of our work is in Toms River and the Ocean County towns around it, plus southern Monmouth County towns such as Howell, Wall, Freehold and Manasquan. If you are a little outside that, call anyway and we will tell you honestly whether we can get there.
What should I do first if a storm tore shingles or siding off my house?
Take photos of the damage and anything on the ground before it gets moved, keep people out of rooms with sagging ceilings, and call us. We secure the opening, document what we find, and then plan the storm repair once the weather settles.
Why is the company called Dover Roofing & Siding?
Toms River was Dover Township until voters changed the name in 2006, and plenty of longtime residents still call it Dover. The name is a nod to the township we work in every day.
